One of the big challenges of this song was actually arranging the second verse for the piano, because the melody consists of repeating the same D-note over and over again. I tried to make it sound more natural by adding the piano melody from the introduction part in the left hand in
Instead of copy and pasting the first chorus like I always do, the second chorus in.has a variation with a vastly different atmosphere. I tried to create a dreamlike scenery on the piano, recreating the image of the beautiful night sky in the Ending animation of Kyoukai no Kanata. I am a big fan of OP and ED animations and I always dissect them frame by frame in my free time to analyze how each scene is transitioning into the other. It is usually extremely well done and I can't help but to admire the animators creating these wonderful sceneries.
The original song ends with a "open" Dmaj7/9 chord and I decided to do the same on the piano: starting.the melody is slowly climbing higher and higher, until it reaches the highest piano range, resembling the night sky as mentioned earlier. The arrangement ends in the same dreamlike atmosphere as it has started and the music has finally come full circle.
